Forced evictions and economic investment projects without consultation: Concerns and requests directed to the international community for protection of human rights defenders
Since december 2012, PBI Guatemala has been contacting members of our support network to inform of our concerns regarding various aspects of the situation in Guatemala, including forced evictions and violent actions taking place within the context of investment projects that are being undertaken without prior consultation and consent from those affected.

Mexico City- In the context of the Second Government Report of the Governor of Oaxaca, which was presented last Thursday November 15th, PBI has interviewed the organisations which we accompany in that state, in order to produce a briefing.
During the biannual strategic meeting of the Mexico Project (MEP) of Peace Brigades International (PBI), held this October, PBI Mexico has decided to open a new regional team during 2013 to address the situation of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila. This decision is the result of an exploratory mission carried out in 2012.
Northern Baja California, Mexico, shares a border with the United States, and this proximity, combined with the region’s strong agricultural market, has encouraged a flood of internal migration from other parts of Mexico, particularly from communities in Oaxaca and Guerrero.
