On Tuesday December 15, 2009, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IAHRC) made public their finding against the Mexican State in the case of Rosendo Radilla, who was forcibly disappeared at a military checkpoint in Atoyac de Álvarez, Guerrero, in August 1974.
The town of Gulariya (Bardiya), base of PBI Nepal’s field office, saw a range of activities on Human Rights day: a protest rally by the Sukumbasis, a celebrative rally for dalit rights, and the filing of crime reports by Advocacy Forum.
On 10 December 2009, International Human Rights Day, PBI Nepal accompanied Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) across Nepal as they stepped up their fight against impunity. Six international volunteers were active in the field accompanying HRDs.
The 3rd committee of the General Assembly last week passed a resolution on human rights defenders which was adopted adopted by consensus – after excellent leadership from Norway, who led the negotiations.
