March 4, 2016. The signatory networks and organisations who support the defence of human rights in Honduras, condemn the murder of Lenca indigenous leader Berta Cáceres, coordinator of the Civic Council of Grassroots and Indigenous Organisations in Honduras (Consejo Cívico de Organizaciones Populares e Indígenas de Honduras – COPINH), which occurred earlier on Thursday at her home in La Esperanza, Intibucá, Honduras.

Mexico City, 19 February 2015.– 10 years ago today, on February 19, 2006, an enormous explosion left 65 miners trapped in the Mine no. 8 of the Pasta de Conchos Unit of “Grupo Mexico”´s coal mine in Coahuila. In the years following the disaster, family members of the victims have come together to highlight the precarious working conditions in the area and to demand the retrieval of their bodies of their loved ones (only two bodies have been retrieved to date).

Mexico City, 16 February 2015.– In Mexico, the mission addressed a large number of human rights issues, focusing in particular in the following three areas: the situation of human rights defenders and of journalists; violence against women and women's political participation, and the disappearance of the 43 teaching students from Iguala.

Mexico City, 9 February 2015.– On the occasion of the visit of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) to Mexico 9 and 10 February, PBI along with other international organizations, states a number of concrete recommendations of issues to include in the high level dialogue meetings with Mexican authorities.
