What You’ll Be Doing: A Snapshot

You will be the driving force behind PBI UK’s success, leading a small, dedicated team and working closely with our Board and global network. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Direction: Leading PBI UK, acting as our primary representative to funders, policymakers, the legal community, and other key external stakeholders. You’ll ensure our day-to-day operations evolve in line with PBI’s broader global strategy.
  • Fundraising & Communications: Co-creating and overseeing the annual fundraising plan across a variety of streams (from individual donors and legacies to trusts, foundations, and institutions like the FCDO). You’ll champion major donor relations and strategically network to unlock new opportunities. You’ll also guide the development and implementation of our essential communications strategy.
  • People & Culture: Supervising and supporting the development, training, performance, and well-being of the PBI UK office team, ensuring a supportive and effective work environment.
  • Financial Health: Jointly monitoring and analysing our financial situation, ensuring we adhere to budgets, manage risks identified by the Board, and maintain robust, compliant financial controls and systems.
  • Policy & Advocacy: Supervising the development and implementation of PBI UK’s policy and advocacy strategy, working closely with human rights defenders, law firms, the FCDO, and other partners. You’ll provide strategic direction on key policy, country, and case-related advocacy.
  • Global Liaison: Leading liaison with PBI’s International Office and other PBI entities to ensure PBI UK contributes effectively to the global movement and maintains excellent relationships with our international partners.
  • Board Alignment: Working closely with the Board to implement decisions, develop necessary policies, and use PBI UK’s resources effectively and efficiently.

Why Join PBI UK?

You will be stepping into a pivotal role at an organisation known globally for its non-violent approach to protecting human rights defenders. We offer a supportive culture, the chance to lead meaningful work, and the opportunity to collaborate with passionate individuals both in the UK and internationally.

If you are a visionary leader with a proven track record in strategic management, fundraising, and advocacy within the NGO sector, we would like to hear from you.
