Peace Brigades International is deeply saddened by the death of human rights defender Jai Kishor Labh in the early hours of Sunday April 18th in his home.
A lawyer and long-time human rights defender, Jai Kishor Labh experienced firsthand the impact of conflict and impunity in Nepal when his son Sanjeev and four other young men were disappeared and killed in 2003, allegedly by state authorities. Despite poverty and ill health, Jai Kishor worked tirelessly on the case of the five disappeared young men, and on other human rights issues in Nepal.
