This year, Peace Brigades International celebrates 45 years of standing alongside human rights and environmental defenders and communities around the world working courageously for peace, justice and human rights.
Since its foundation in 1981, PBI has worked hard to create space and provide protection for those promoting nonviolent change, accompanying people and organisations whose work puts them at risk and helping ensure that their voices can be heard.
This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate everything that has been achieved, but also to recognise the people who have made this journey possible: human rights defenders, communities, volunteers, staff, supporters, partners and friends across the world.
To mark this milestone, we have created a video celebrating PBI’s story, our shared commitment to nonviolence, and the people and relationships at the heart of our work.
As we reflect on 45 years of solidarity and accompaniment, we also look ahead. At a time of growing global challenges and shrinking civic space, our commitment to supporting those who defend human rights remains as important as ever.
Watch the video and join us in celebrating 45 years of PBI, and the people who continue to build a more peaceful and just world.
